John J. “Jack” Kelly Sr. of Narrowsburg, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Carbondale Nursing and Rehab, Carbondale, PA. He was 87.

The son of the late Eugene and Beatrice (Carbar) Kelly, he was born on September 14, 1934, in Suffern, NY. He married the love of his life, Josephine (Verrico) Kelly. She passed away on March 15, 2018. They were married for 60 years and were rarely apart, spending their best days together in the garden, running errands and spending time with the big, beautiful family they created together.

Jack and Jo were the former owners of Kelly’s Oasis, J & J Canoes and the Park Theater.

Jack loved to bowl and spent many sunny days on the golf course. One of Jack’s favorite pastimes was ice fishing up north with his wife, Jo.

He is survived by his six children, Nancy Kelly Geelan of Beach Lake, PA; Rita Lang and her husband John of Honesdale, PA; Cliff Kelly and his wife Maureen of Beach Lake, PA; Gene Kelly and his wife Judy of Beach Lake, PA; Marie Small and her husband Scot of Beach Lake, PA and John Kelly Jr. and his wife Linda of Rock Hill, NY. He was also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his son-in-law, Gil Geelan.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, September 24, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, September 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, 3412 State Rte. 97, Barryville, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier RC Church, 151 Bridge St., Narrowsburg. Christian burial will follow mass at St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg. Father Dennis Dinan will officiate.
