‘Negotiating the Gnarly’ exhibition and live performance

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — On Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m., the Catskill Arts Society (CAS) will present a live performance, “Negotiating the Gnarly: An Unfinished Collaboration,” at the Laundry King.

Mermer Blakeslee and Margot McLean have been collaborating with words and images for the last 30 years. “Negotiating the Gnarly” began when a line from one of Blakeslee’s poems became a title on one of McLean’s drawings. The pair of artists noted how “the words and the image were both transformed by the force field of the other.”

Blakeslee has authored three novels and one non-fiction book. McLean has exhibited her work in the U.S., Ireland and Italy.

An exhibit concurrent to their performance is on display at the CAS Arts Center. At 1 p.m., an hour before the performance, the collaboration artists will be at the exhibition. Visit www.catskillartsociety.org for more information.
