Did you catch a glimpse of the film crew in Narrowsburg last week? They were here with a New Jersey based break-dancer filming the trailer for next month’s Big Eddy Film Festival. You may have seen them doing dance interpretations of “Singing in the Rain” on Main Street, “Risky Business” at the Atomic Laundromat, or “Dirty Dancing” in the Delaware River. The trailer, which also features cameos by several Narrowsburg locals, will appear online and on television later in August, and will screen before each film throughout the Big Eddy Film Festival (September 14 to 16 at the Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St.). The festival’s film lineup has been partially announced, and tickets go on sale this week at bigeddyfilmfest.com.

In other exciting news, last week the Town of Tusten received two awards from Sullivan Renaissance for the beautification of Narrowsburg: a Bronze Feather Grant Award for $25,000 from the Municipal Partnership Grants and the Judges’ Choice Award for $5,000 for Youth Engagement at the Children’s Garden Huge thanks and congratulations to Jane Luchsinger, the Narrowsburg Beautification Committee, Crystal Weston and the Tusten Youth Commission, plus all the volunteers and intern Sebastian, who worked to make this happen.

This weekend, the Delaware Valley Opera is presenting one of Mozart’s most beloved works “The Magic Flute” at the Tusten Theatre (210 Bridge St.), Saturday, August 18 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20 at delawareval leyopera.com. The show will have encore performances next weekend as well.

Coming up, Tusten Youth Commission is hosting two events at Fort Delaware (6615 NY Rte. 97). On Saturday, August 25 at 12:30 p.m. is a Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactment. Then on Labor Day weekend, there will be a Colonial scavenger hunt with prize. Pre-register by emailing tusteny outh@yahoo.com.

As always, check out the town’s website Tusten.org or find the Town of Tusten on Facebook for news and events happening around town.
