This is a test. Name three new things in Tusten (... a pause while you think…).

#1 The Main Street Observation Deck. What a fabulous job Tom Coacci Jr. has done to recreate our deck as per design by Charles G. Woods Architects. Now observers have the ability to gather in their own space and gaze at the river below and the eagles soaring above. This is a deck to be proud of: modern, yet the black locust decking gives the rural feeling we all wish to preserve. Thank you, Tom for a job well done.

#2 An “Expression Swing.” A new swing, funded by grants from Sullivan Renaissance and the Sullivan County Plans and Progress program, has been installed by our Highway Department on the playground on the Flats. It’s time for all you moms, dads, grandmoms and granddads to get a little exercise with your small children. Place your child on one swing, then hop onto the swing on the other side ready to re-live those days of swinging glee as you watch your child laugh and swing with joy. Thank you, Tusten Highway Department, for installing this new entertaining, multigenerational piece of equipment.

#3 Town Hall Improvements/repairs. It may be a bit more difficult to identify the location of the third new thing in Tusten, but look on the DeMauro Lane side of town hall. Many of you have visited the basement of town hall after a heavy rain only to be greeted with wet floors. After last week’s heavy rains, we can now say this is no longer a problem. The repairs have resulted in a “dry-as-a-bone” basement after rainfalls. With the help of our highway department and funding from a grant from New York State Sen. John Bonacic, we have been able to restore our dry basement.

Happy days are here again!
