Embrace the sun!  It looks like spring is really here now. Feel the warmth on your face as you look up to the sky, so welcome after that surprise snow storm last month.

Neighbors are appearing outside clearing the winter debris from their yards and clothes are beginning to be spotted blowing in the wind on clotheslines. It’s such a pleasure to bring in the laundry and smell the outdoors, which lingers on the clothes, or better yet the sheets.

The Tusten Energy Committee (TEC) welcomes spring this year, and will be planting forsythia bushes around the solar array fence by the highway barn. That’s not all.  They plan to plant coreopsis, a yellow flower, as well. The TEC specifically chose these plants because of their yellow color, reminding us of the sun and how thankful we are for the energy it is providing to our municipal buildings.

Event success #1: The Lava Fire Department pancake breakfast lived up to its reputation with a full, delicious breakfast on April 2. Thank you to all who worked hard to make this a success, and watch the sign in front of the firehouse this summer announcing the next planned breakfast in August.

Event success #2: The Tusten Youth Commission annual Easter party. Children scrambled outside to gather as many eggs filled with candies that they could possibly get. They ran and squealed in delight as they located the precious eggs.

Event success #3: The first concert of the spring performance series at the Tusten Theatre. The series runs through June 11, with five different concerts sure to please. Saturday night, Danielle Ponder sang her heart out to a welcoming audience, and next up will be Matuto on Saturday, April 29 at 4 p.m. This group sings world music: bluegrass meets Brazil. Don’t miss it. Tickets are available at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance for only $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Have a good week and enjoy the warm weather.
