MIDDLETOWN, NY — The SUNY Orange Apprentice Players will present “Moonchildren,” by Michael Weller, at the William and Helen Richards Theatre at Orange Hall on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange during the weekends of November 9 to 11 and 16 to 18. Best known to the general public for his screenplay adaptations of “Ragtime” and “Hair,” Weller made his reputation as a playwright in a trio of plays about the 1960s: “Moonchildren,”“Loose Ends” and “Fishing”.

“Moonchildren,” set in 1985, explores how eight students on the verge of graduation react to the impending transition from the unmoored existence of student life—free love, idealistic protest, romantic illusion, care-free poverty and hedonism—to the demands of adulthood.

Friday and Saturday performances start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinee performances begin at 3 p.m. There will be a talk-back with the director and cast following each Saturday evening performance.

Some content may not be suitable for children. Tickets cost $12 for adults; $10 for seniors, faculty/staff and alumni; and $4 for students. Active-duty military are admitted free. Student tickets are available at the box office only; purchase other tickets at www.sunyorange.edu.
