Monticello man sentenced to 17 1/3 to 25 years

Sullivan County Chief Assistant District Attorney Meagan K. Galligan announced that Sean Lundy, 39, of Monticello, was sentenced today to an aggregate term of 17 1/3 to 25 years in state prison on his convictions by jury verdict before the Sullivan County Court of conspiracy and related charges.

The proof at trial established that Lundy conspired with several others to keep one co-conspirator, yet to stand trial, in business as a major trafficker of the narcotic drug cocaine in Sullivan County between June 2017 and June 2018; Lundy was further convicted of possessing more than 49 grams of crack cocaine in his residence in Lake Huntington with the intent to sell it, on June 8, 2018, when police executed a search warrant and took him into custody on the conspiracy charge.

In recommending this sentence, Galligan noted that Lundy was previously convicted of felony robbery and drug charges in North Carolina and Virginia, respectively, and the prison sentences imposed in those cases did nothing to deter him from participating in this long term conspiracy to distribute cocaine in Sullivan County.

Galligan said, “This defendant’s conduct cannot be tolerated. The trial jury recognized the scope and severity of this drug distribution network, which were reflected in my recommendation for the maximum legal sentence in this case. The conclusion of this individual case, reached today, is the result of the hard work and collaboration of many police agencies, including the New York State Police narcotics unit and Liberty and Wurtsboro State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Fallsburg Police Department, Village of Monticello Police Department, Village of Liberty Police Department, and police members of the DA’s Office.

"This large scale conspiracy ultimately made cocaine available on the streets of Sullivan County and endangered the safety and well-being of each of us who live and work here; those who consider engaging in similar conduct should reconsider, based on the removal of this defendant from our community for an extended period of time. My office and my law enforcement partners will continue to focus on those who distribute narcotics in our community.”
