District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Rickey Bolden, 37, of Monticello, N.Y. entered a plea of guilty to Murder in the 2nd Degree in Sullivan County Court on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.  Farrell said that Bolden admitted to intentionally causing the death of John Ferrari, 61, of Riverdale, N.J. on September 21, 2016, at the Pardess Bungalow Colony on Old Liberty Road in the Town of Thompson.  Bolden admitted to striking Ferrari multiple times in and about his head with a shovel causing his death.  Bolden was employed as a maintenance worker for Ferrari, who was the caretaker at the bungalow colony, when he committed the homicide.  Under the terms of the plea agreement, Bolden is expected to receive a sentence of 21 years to life imprisonment when he is sentenced on December 20, 2017, before County Court Judge Michael McGuire.  Bolden was arrested on September 24, 2016, for Murder in the 2nd Degree, after an investigation by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, who were assisted by members of the New York State Police, the Sullivan County DA’s Office and the State Police Forensic Identification Unit.
