Monticello man arrested twice in 24 hours for DUI

Monticello police arrested Ivan Velasquez, age 50, of Monticello for misdemeanor Aggravated Driving While intoxicated at 9:00 PM Friday 10/20/17 and again on Saturday 10/21/17 at 8:50 PM.

At 9:00 PM Friday Velasquez was stopped by Monticello officers along with New York State Police after he was observed operating a 2007 Dodge Caravan in an erratic manner on Forestburg Road in the Village of Monticello. Velasquez was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. A chemical test administered to Velasquez at the Monticello police station showed that his BAC was .21%. Velasquez was charged with misdemeanor aggravated driving while intoxicated and released on an appearance ticket to return on 10/26/17 at 10 AM in Village of Monticello JusticeCourt.

At 8:20 PM Saturday Velasquez was stopped by Monticello officers and New York State Police after he was observed operating the same vehicle again in an erratic manner of Forestburg road. Velasquez was then arrested for driving while intoxicated. A chemical test administered to Velasquez at the Monticello Police Station showed his BAC was .27%. Velasquez was then charged with misdemeanor aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Velasquez was arraigned before Acting Village of Monticello Justice Leo Glass and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $5000.00 bail pending further court action.
