Press Release: Members of the Monticello police arrested Gimel Kimble, age 34, of Monticello, on Tuesday 12/3/19. Kimble was charged with assault and related charges.

At 12:08 AM this morning, Monticello police responded to a 911 report of two male stabbing victims in the area of Broadway and Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello. Responding officers located two males, ages 22 and 30. The victims were both employed with a local Taxi company and were in the in the process of a shift change in a parking lot, when they were approached by another male.

That male started a conversation with the two victims and then suddenly produced a screw driver and stabbed both victims in the face. Both victims sustained punctures near their left eyes. The suspect then ran off towards Park Avenue. One of the victims was transported from the scene by Mobile Medic Ambulance to CRMC for immediate medical attention.

At 12:40 AM, Monticello Police received a report that Kimble had just kicked and broke a window at a residence on Park Avenue and then fled on foot. Responding officers determined that the description of Kimble’s clothing, also fit the same description of the suspect in the stabbing incident 30 minutes prior. Within a few minutes, officers located Kimble walking on Prince Street and took him in custody.

Upon searching Kimble, officers recovered from his person a crack pipe and hypodermic syringes. Kimble also refused to cooperate with officers during processing procedures at the Monticello police station. Upon further investigation and a review of video surveillance, officers were able to identify Kimble as the person responsible in the stabbing of the two male victims and he was charged accordingly in that incident.

Kimble was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Hon. Josephine Finn and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending further court action.
