MONTICELLO, NY — Members of the Village of Monticello Police arrested Paul A. Ellis, age 38, of Monticello on Monday October 14. Ellis was charged with the felony of Burglary in the 3rd degree and misdemeanor Petit larceny.

Ellis was arrested as a result of an investigation into a burglary of the “Dunkin Donuts” store, located at 144 Jefferson Street in the Village of Monticello. On Thursday, October 10th, 2024 at 11:50 p.m., Ellis did force his way thru the drive-up window after the business had closed and once inside did steal a cash box containing $200 in currency. Ellis then left the store and went back out through the drive-up window. Ellis was identified after a review of the store's surveillance system that recorded the burglary.

Ellis was arraigned in the Village of Monticello Justice Court before Village Justice Douglas Solomon. Ellis was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $20,000 cash bail, $40,000 bail bond or $60,000 insurance bond pending further court action.
