Monticello Police arrested George Germany (27) of Monticello on Friday 1/17/14. Germany was charged with misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by the use of dugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

At 10:45 PM Friday Germany was observed by Monticello PO George Mendez operating a 2013 Nissan Altima on Broadway in the village of Monticello without any headlights on. PO Mendez then stopped Germany at the intersection of Broadway and Jefferson Street.

While the officer was radioing in the vehicle stop, Germany leapt from his vehicle and fled on foot. Germany was then pursued on foot for several blocks. While running through a backyard on Summit Avenue, Germany tumbled over a wheelbarrow and then fell into a concrete wall. PO Mendez and other assisting officers then took Germany into custody.

A search of Germany following his arrest also revealed 2 folded tin foils containing crack cocaine in his possession. Germany was treated at CRMC for a dislocated shoulder and a laceration to an elbow. Germany was arraigned before acting Village of Monticello justice Martin Miller and remanded to the Sullivan county jail on $5,000.00 bail pending further court action.
