Michael “Wiggler” Weigelt, 61, of Damascus, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, November 5, 2018. Born on April 26, 1957, at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Fredrick Weigelt Sr. (who served as longtime Wildlife Officer for the PA Game Commission) and Elizabeth Daemer Weigelt.

Michael was a graduate of Damascus High School, where he played on the soccer team. He worked in construction as a laborer for more than 20 years in the Laborers Local 17 in Newburgh, NY, were he formed his second family.

He was a football fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and a baseball fan of the New York Mets. In his prime, you could find “Wiggler” playing softball, golfing, or possibly watching NASCAR at a local watering hole.

Surviving are his sons Chase and Chad Weigelt and his grandchildren Hailey, Michael and Aubrey. Also surviving are his siblings Helen Bechtel, Kathleen Teeple, Steve Weigelt and Christina Smith.

He was preceded in death by his brother Fredrick Weigelt Jr. and sister Besty Kowalczyk.

His family will receive friends on Friday, November 16,  at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. in Honesdale, in memory of his very loved companion, Zoey.
