Metzger: Callicoon park nominated for $100k grant

CALLICOON, NY — A proposed park could get a financial shot in the arm, thanks to Sen. Jen Metzger.

Located at the former Upper Delaware Campground, the tentatively named Riverside Park is currently owned by the Trust for Public Land, a national organization dedicated to preserving land and creating public parks.

“This riverfront property along the Delaware River, with acres of forest, fields, and wetlands, is a scenic and recreational treasure that should be preserved for the public to enjoy,” said Metzger. “I am pleased to have nominated the proposed Callicoon Riverside Park for a $100,000 grant to support this worthy project.”

The trust plans to transfer the property to Sullivan County in the spring. Grant funds could be used toward that end, “or [to] make any improvements to it should the County move forward with the project,” she said.
