‘Holidays Around the Globe’ 

MILFORD, PA — Croatian singer-songwriter Astrid Kuljanić and musicians of the Transatlantic Exploration Company will perform at the Milford Theatre on Saturday, December 14 at 5:30 p.m. They’ll play music from the Balkans and western Europe, along with American jazz, Brazilian samba, holiday-related tunes and more. After the concert, attendees will be welcomed to a wine-and-cheese reception with Kuljanić and the band. 

Tickets cost $20 at the door and $15 when purchased in advance through www.kindredspiritsarts.org or at Holy Crepes, 224 Broad St. Children under 15 will be admitted free. 

Hawley Winterfest 

HAWLEY, PA — Hawley is throwing a winter weekend celebration from Friday, December 13 to Sunday, December 15 that features more than 50 free events. Some events begin as early as 10 a.m. and go as late as 11 p.m. 

On Friday, December 13 at 8 p.m., there will be a Christmas performance by harpist Erin Hill. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the Hawley Library, Settlers Inn and online.

On Saturday, December 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy a self-guided historic holiday house tour of Lakeville. Tickets cost $20 and are available at The Dime Bank, Hawley Library, Settlers Inn and online.

Alcohol-ink ornament workshop

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Robin Nervegna of The Artist’s Pantry in Jeffersonville will teach how to make alcohol-ink ornaments at the Jeffersonville Branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library on Tuesday, December 17 at 4:30 p.m. 

Alcohol ink is a colorful, acid-free medium that’s fun to paint with and widely used to paint abstract forms on ceramic. All supplies will be provided.

‘A Colonial Christmas’

BETHEL, NY — The Sullivan County Community Chorus will present “A Colonial Christmas” on Sunday, December 15 at 2:30 p.m. in the event gallery at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The performance will also feature the Chamber Singers, solo performers and an orchestra. The snow date is December 22.

The suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Dharma book sale

NARROWSBURG, NY — Two Rivers Zen Community will host its second annual dharma book sale is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 13, 14 and 15, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. at 76 Main St. on the second floor. Light refreshments will be served.

All books, used and new, are discounted 50 percent or more off Amazon prices. The sale also includes Tibetan and Japanese Zen Buddhist antiques and objets d’art. Award-winning authors Seiso Paul Cooper, Kagayaki Karen Morris, and Myoki Marcia Nehemiah will be on hand to sign copies of their discounted books.

Nationally recognized artist to perform one-man ‘Christmas Carol’ 

PORT JERVIS, NY — On Tuesday, December 18 from 7 to 8 p.m., the Hub will host a local nationally recognized artist, Jonathan Kruk, and his rendition of “A Christmas Carol.” Using voices to create more than 30 characters, Jonathan’s “A Christmas Carol” is intriguing, intimate and imaginative.  Some compare Jonathan to “an elegant Robin Williams.”

Dickens on the Delaware

CALLICOON, NY — On Saturday, December 14 from 12 to 6 p.m., Callicoon will host its annual Dickens on the Delaware event. There will be a holiday artisan market, horse-and-buggy rides, activities for children, caroling, seasonal snacks and drinks, and theatre and opera performances.

WHITE MILLS, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance will have its third annual holiday art sale, “Art Under $100,” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 13, 14 and 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Dorflinger Factory Museum. This event is in conjunction with Hawley Winterfest.

The holiday sale features original artwork, all priced under $100, from more than 20 member artists of the Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA).
