Sunday, May 26

HAWLEY, PA — Memorial Day parade lines up at 12 noon on lower Church Street, steps off at 1 p.m. and will proceed along Church Street toward the bridge and Cora’s 1850 Bistro, turn right onto Main Avenue and end at Bingham Park. The American Legion wreath-laying ceremony will take place at a pause during the parade, at one of the bridges on Main Ave. (not determined as of press time).

Monday, May 27

FREMONT CENTER, NY — 135th annual Fremont Center Memorial Day Parade: 9 a.m. assemble at town barn. Road closure; memorial service at Veteran’s Park (next to town barn) at 9:30 a.m. Parade transportation will be provided as needed. For additional information call Tony 607/290-4002.

HONESDALE, PA — Memorial Day parade down Main Street. Parade steps off 10 a.m. at the Triangle Park on North Main Street. There will be a ceremony in Central Park following the parade. During the parade there will be a Coast Guard MH-65 helicopter flyover; the helicopter will land in the field next to CVS on Fourth Street. and the public is invited to visit, take pictures and ask questions.

LIBERTY, NY — On behalf of The Town of Liberty and Cpl. Russell D. Sprague American Legion Post 109, the parade will line up at 10 a.m., step off at 10:30 a.m. and travel through the business district in the Village of Liberty, proceed down Church Street, and end at the Liberty Veterans Cemetery on Cold Spring Road. At the cemetery, there will be a short service to honor our war heroes.

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Livingston Manor Memorial Day Parade starts at 10 a.m., line-up is at 9:30 at the Livingston Manor Central School, 19 School Street.

ROSCOE, NY — Parade starts at 10 a.m. with the memorial ceremony following immediately after at the Roscoe Firehouse, 10 Union Street.

WURTSBORO, NY — Mamakating American Legion Post 1266 will sponsor the Memorial Day parade with a 12:30 p.m. lineup on Pine Street in front of the post. Parade steps off at 1 p.m., and will end at the Veterans Park. At the conclusion of the parade there will be a memorial service. Refreshments will be served at the post home on 92 Pine Street.

Saturday, May 25

EQUINUNK, PA — The Equinunk Historical Society will honor World War II U.S. Navy veteran Harold Hawley, who will share his experiences and stories from his military service at the Calder Museum, 1972 Pine Mill Rd. Doors will open at 12 noon. Program begins at 1 p.m. An ice cream social will follow the speaker.

Sunday, May 26

BLOOMINGBURG, NY — The VFW Post 4947 will host a cemetery service at 1 p.m. at the Bloomingburg Cemetery.   Speaker will be the Honorable Frank J.LaBuda. 

TOWN OF TUSTEN, HIGHLAND, LUMBERLAND —  VFW Post 6427 will have cemetery ceremonies to honor our deceased Veterans: Lava Cemetery at 11 a.m., St. Francis Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., Glen Cove Cemetery at 12 noon and the Town of Tusten ceremony at the Old Tusten Church at 2 p.m.

WOODRIDGE — A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. at Veterans Park on Roosevelt Avenue. If it rains, participants will meet in the village hall.

TUSTEN, NY — Non-denominational Memorial Day remembrance service at Ten Mile River Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Refreshments served after service.

Monday, May 27

BARRYVILLE, NY — At 9:20 a.m., the Sylvan Liebla American Legion Post 1363 will conduct a memorial service at the Barryville Cemetery, Mail Road.

BETHEL, NY — At 11 a.m. there will be a service at Town of Bethel Veterans Park, Kauneonga Lake. Refreshments follow at the Town of Bethel Senior Building.

ELDRED, NY — At 9 a.m. Sylvan Liebla American Legion Post 1363 will conduct a memorial service at Eldred Cemetery. At 1 p.m., Tusten Highland Lumberland VFW Post 6427 and Sylvan Liebla American Legion Post 1363 will conduct a joint memorial service at Heroes Park, corner of Route 55 and Proctor Road, in Eldred.

FORESTBURGH, NY — 9:00 a.m. Memorial Day services will be conducted at the Veterans Triangle, Route 42 South, Forestburgh.  Participating will be the local Veterans Organizations…all based in Monticello:  American Legion Ruddick-Trowbridge Post 73 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Bailey-Richmond Post 9588.  The public is cordially invited to attend.   Refreshments follow at the Fireman’s Pavilion, hosted by the Forestburgh Fire Company. 

LIBERTY, NY — The Veterans Service Agency will provide a Memorial Day service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty at 1 p.m.  Master of ceremonies is John Crotty.

LONG EDDY, NY — The Allan Milk Memorial VFW Post 7276 will have services in Long Eddy Catholic Cemetery at 1 p.m., luncheon to follow at Long Eddy Firehouse, Holy Handbrook Rd.

LUMBERLAND, NY —Memorial service at the Lumberland Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. the Sylvan Liebla American Legion Post 1363 will conduct a memorial service at Lumberland Town Hall, 1054 Proctor Road, Glen Spey.  Refreshments will be served.

MONTICELLO, NY — Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. at the Sullivan County Government Center, 100 North St. The ceremonies will be hosted by the local Monticello-based veterans’ organizations: American Legion Ruddick-Trowbridge Post 73 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Bailey-Richmond Post 9588.  Al Etkin is master of ceremonies. Refreshments will follow at the Elks Lodge on North Street.

NEVERSINK, NY — Flag ceremony at 11 a.m. at the flagpole, Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. Flag exchange: Donald Morton’s Flag will come down and Eugene Fuller’s Flag will go up.

TOWN OF MAMAKATING — Service at Edward M. Maier Memorial V.F.W., Post 4947 at 8 a.m. After, there will be a dedication and service at the Summitville Firehouse and Monument at 9 a.m.
