Hello and happy June! Our animals at the farm are thriving. They’re exceptionally active right now in our vast green fields with the stunning weather we have been having. Not only are the goats, donkey, chickens and ducks enjoying this spring weather, but Milo, our Shichon dog, has been thrilled to be enjoying the outdoors, too.

As a 6-year-old, small-breed dog, Milo has been living at the farm since he was a puppy. He discovered at a young age that there were more animals than just cats around the house. At first, Milo wasn’t sure about of the goats and donkey, but he was brave and made friends with everyone quickly. He is especially good with the farm animals and spends a lot of time with them throughout the day.

Protecting chickens on the daily is a job Milo has given himself, and he is always careful to be gentle with the girls. After the young chicks moved from the house to living outside with the big birds, Milo started taking frequent trips over to their cage to make sure they were OK and is sure to sniff and monitor them.

There have been times where our goats have escaped the electric wire fencing and have tried to eat the trees throughout the property. But then, Milo comes to the rescue! He will help us round up the goats and get them back where they belong by barking at them, nipping their ankles and directing them to the pen. He fits in very well with the group of animals we currently have, and they never seem to mind each other. Typically, donkeys do not accept dogs because they protect other animals from threats of other animals, such as coyotes, but Daisy made an exception for Milo and has completely accepted him since she met him.
