‘How the West Was Spun’

SHOHOLA, PA — On Saturday, July 6 from 4 to 6 p.m., the Artists’ Market Community Center will present “How the West Was Spun,” a celebration of the West of the 1800s. The exhibit will include authentic artifacts, artwork, music and a presentation by the National Park Service and Zane Grey Museum.

Medicine in your garden

DAMASCUS, PA — On Saturday, July 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, mother and daughter homestead herbalists Karen and Courtney Whitmore will host a two-hour workshop that will demonstrate a variety of herbal plants, how to grow them, their medicinal properties and various forms of extraction and preservation.

Participants will begin at Farm Arts Collective, located on Willow Wisp Organic Farm, 38 Hickory Ln., for parking and sign-up before heading to the Whitmore garden. The fee for the class is $15, and registration is requested at www.farmartscollective.org.

Husband-and-wife artist duo

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Art Society will present a two-person exhibition from husband-and-wife duo Mary Carlson and Jim Torok as the fourth annual invitational show at CAS Art Center on Saturday, July 6. CAS will host an artists’ talk at 4 p.m., followed immediately by an opening reception from 5 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served and admission is free and open to the public.

‘Me and My Girl’

FORESTBURGH, NY — The Forestburgh Playhouse is presenting “Me and My Girl” until Sunday, July 14. Performances are everyday at 8 p.m., except for 3 p.m. matinees on Sundays, July 7 and 14. Wednesday, July 10, has a 2 p.m. performance in addition to the 8 p.m. show.

‘What to the American Slave is Your Fourth of July?’

KAUNEONGA LAKE, NY — On Friday, July 5 at 7 p.m., Oliver King will present Frederick Douglass’s keynote address “What to the American Slave is Your Fourth of July?” at Bethel Council of the Arts’ gallery ARTSPACE.

Tickets cost $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Reception and refreshments will follow the performance.
