Mary Catherine Weiden (Duerr), resident of St. Mary’s Villa Skilled Nursing Facility in Elmhurst Township, PA, and formerly of Narrowsburg and Yorktown Heights, NY, died peacefully in her sleep on the evening of Wednesday, January 23rd 2019.She was 88 years old.  She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Weiden Philipbar and her husband Patrick of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Ann Maria Lowe and her husband Brian of Gastonia, NC.  She was the proud grandmother of Emma Frances and Theodore Patrick Philipbar and William Keith Lowe, who cherish the many happy memories helping their Oma with her garden or playing board and card games with her.  She is also survived by her sister Betty Post of Altus, Arkansas and her husband Matthew, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren, andfriends.  She was welcomed into heaven by her beloved husband of 44 years, Robert William Weiden, her parents Ted and Elizabeth Duerr, her in-laws Mathias and Ernestine Weiden, and her ten brothers and sisters: Pete, Andy, Al, Sis, Pat, Joe, Pauline, Ben, and Tommy.

Mary was born on February 2, 1930 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, and later moved to Charleston, Arkansas with her family. She married Robert William Weiden on July 25, 1964 at Sacred Heart RC Church in Charleston.  She was extremely devoted to her family and the Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Central Union where she met her future husband at the annual convention in St. Louis. She was active in the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar & Rosary Society, and the CYO of the Archdiocese of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a member of the 3rd Order of the Oblates of St. Benedict. She worked tirelessly throughout her life for the missions at home and abroad through the Holy Family Mission Circle she founded with her husband Robert. She generously donated of her time and resources throughout her life and enjoyed providing plants and flowers for her parish churches. She was a staunch supporter of pro-life causes, and prayed daily for the conversion of souls, the continued faith of her family, and for peace in the world.

Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, January 29 and 10-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 30 at Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, 3412 State Route 97, Barryville, NY 12719. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, at St. Francis Xavier RC Church, Narrowsburg, NY. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
