Catskill Brewery

Catskill Brewery was established in 2014 in Livingston Manor. The beer is made from Catskill Mountain water and all-natural ingredients. The company’s mission statement is all about sustainability, recycling and protecting the local environment; the building is fully renewably powered.

According to the head of sales, Greg Lafaro, “We’ve expanded into the New York City market with new distributors, while still maintaining the local Sullivan market. We’re producing a lot more volume than we’ve ever had.” 845/439-1232; email; 672 Old Rte. 17 in Livingston Manor.

Johnston Bluestone Industries

Johnston Bluestone products cover all kinds of bluestone production, distribution and installation—even CAD designs. The company deals with everything from residential properties to major projects such as hospitals and Ivy League schools. Owner Pete Johnston says, “Rising energy costs have been a bit  of a recent setback for growth at the moment, and of course the cost of fuel, but things are still  moving along well.” Recent projects include Trinity Church, the Federal Reserve in  New York City and several high-end residential projects. 845/665-9125;; 424 River Rd. in Callicoon.  

DC Fabrication and Welding  

DC Fabrication and Welding specializes in welding steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Originally located in  Stamford, CT, the business moved to Ferndale in 2003. It caters to mostly industrial projects.Dan Coutermash, who formed the company in 1979, said, “We’ve been pretty busy; fortunately COVID hasn’t affected us too much. But we’ve been a little cautious nonetheless, just to be on  the safe side.” They just made a major investment—a quarter of a million dollars—in a 5-access  Waterjet cutter machine that really speeds up operations. 845/295-0215; They're located at 17 Radcliff Rd. in Ferndale.

Cochecton Mills

Cochecton Mills is a powerhouse of feed manufacturing, making 1,000 tons of feed weekly. The mill services and delivers to a 125-mile area in upstate New York with a fleet of nine bulk trucks and three bulk-feed trucks. It is a family-run business that was established in 1956. The mill has automated mixing and pelleting systems, and has a wonderful retail store. According to Sean Nearing, “Work has been pretty steady, but down a little bit since COVID. Our main focus is manufacturing animal feed and there is always a need for that.  Boyce Products LTD

Boyce Products specializes in custom furniture and all kinds of fabrication. In business since 1984, its main fabrication center is located in Wayne County.

The company has had a wide range of projects: New York City MTA help centers, the MSNBC studio, all the kiosks at Metlife Stadium and the world headquarters for AT&T. Boyce built many news studios—for Wolf Blitzer, CNN and Bloomberg, among others. It has also built movie sets for many films. Boyce has even manufactured all the podiums for the last three presidential debates.

Owner David Boyce says, “Things have been pretty steady and COVID has had only a small effect on the company of over 50 people, with only one infection.”

He continued, “We are very busy right now with several confidential projects.” Which was very apparent, as one observed the workforce making everything from hinges to custom truck tailgates and desks for several celebrities. New Wave Woodworking

New Wave Woodworking started as a one-man company and now has over 20 employees in a 115,000 square foot facility in White Mills, PA. The company specializes in custom-made, very detailed and impeccable furniture. New Wave has all the modern design technology from CAD to  3D scanners and its cornerstone CNC carving machine. “It’s a 10-spindle CNC lathe,” says Jerry Vlacich. New Wave also uses virtual carving-software technology.
