My name is Brenda Giraldi. I was elected to the Town of Mamakating Council six years ago. I have served the last two years as your deputy supervisor. In 2013, I ran for election to help expose and drive out corruption that had infiltrated our community.
The community also joined the fight to flush out the perpetrators whose interests were not the same as the residents of our town. The FBI, through its investigation, was able to file charges of voter fraud against two developers. These individuals were convicted and went to federal prison. A former town supervisor was also charged and convicted of voter fraud.
During my time in office, we upgraded computers, renovated all town buildings, replaced our antiquated highway fleet and upgraded radio communications for our highway department. I established a local emergency alert system to notify and update residents when significant weather or other regional emergency situations arise. Broadband access has been significantly expanded for residents and small businesses. We also stayed below the 2 percent tax cap and ran a surplus every year. We established a Land Development Corporation to attract new business. For the last two years, the Land Development Corporation has been working to purchase Wurtsboro Airport. We will be holding a public workshop informational meeting on October 29 at 6 p.m. at the town hall.
I am running on the Rural Heritage line on November 5 to be your next town supervisor. I have the experience, integrity and talent to continue moving Mamakating forward. I will keep corruption out of your local government, and I will not be influenced by special interest or developers. Vote for me, Brenda Giraldi, on the Rural Heritage line at bottom of the ballot. Row I.
