‘Love Songs from Shakespeare’s Time’ free livestreams

ONLINE — On Saturday, June 13 at 5:30 p.m., The Good Pennyworths will perform “The Sweets of Love” from the Renaissance era. The program, featuring Olivia Bentzen and lutist/baritone Garald Farnham, includes music by John Dowland, Thomas Campion, Alfonso Ferrabosco and other contemporaries of William Shakespeare.  

Following on Sunday, June 14 at 4 p.m., Farnham will perform “Passing By: My Life as a Minstrel.” In this show, he’ll play and sing pop music of the Renaissance, including songs from Shakespeare’s plays, as well as some music from the 1960s.

The shows will broadcast from www.kindredspiritsarts.org and YouTube. Kindred Spirits Arts Programs (KSAP), the producer of these online broadcasts, is a not-for-profit organization of volunteers led by cellist Yosif Feigelson. KSAP is based in Milford, PA and brings world-class artists to northeastern Pennsylvania and arranges educational enrichment workshops for high school students. ‘Get Dressed Up,’ homemade salad dressing workshop

ONLINE — On Sunday, June 14, Farm Arts Collective is offering a workshop to expand your salad and salad dressing repertoire. The interactive workshop will take place online from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A panel of salad dressing makers—led by Mark Hitzges, personal chef and Willow Wisp market team member in NYC—will instruct viewers how to prepare three unique dressings. The list of ingredients will be provided before the workshop date so participants can follow from home.

20th annual butterfly release virtual celebration

ONLINE — Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice will host its 20th annual butterfly release celebration with three virtual events held via Zoom for Pike County in Pennsylvania and Sussex and Warren Counties in New Jersey. The release ceremonies will be hosted on Zoom on Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 14 at 2 p.m.

Event participants will be forwarded a password to enter the ceremony and be able to see and hear the reading of names, view the virtual release ceremony and download the commemorative event program on Zoom.

This year’s celebration will integrate music with the reading of each name being celebrated and concludes with the release of dozens of butterflies. Purchasing a butterfly to honor a loved one costs $20; included in the purchase is a memorial keepsake which will be sent along with a personalized acknowledgment card to the designated recipient.

SUNY Sullivan announces free classes through July

ONLINE — SUNY Sullivan is offering an updated selection of online courses to address the needs of the community in the era of COVID-19. Designed to engage the community from the comfort of their homes, the new courses include Beginners All Level Yoga; Container Gardening; Everyday Nutrition, Disease Prevention and Food Safety; Recycled Puppets for Kids; and Medicare 101. The programs are free of charge.

SUNY Sullivan is offering these classes in partnership with Sullivan 180, a non-profit organization devoted to health and wellness in Sullivan County, and Sullivan Renaissance, a local beautification and community development program.

Each personal enrichment class can be accessed through Zoom; participants will need to register and confirm their space. A Zoom invitation will be sent to participants 24-hours prior to the class. The same link should be used for any classes with more than one session.

Pizza and live music, reservations required

HONESDALE, PA —The Old School Farm is safely opening for the season. Poison Love Band opens the season on Saturday, June 13 to play from 6 to 9 p.m. Wood-fired artisan pizza will be available from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

This will be a drive-in event with live sound through speakers and transmitting via FM radio frequency to cars onsite. Boxed pizza pies will be delivered to the parking area every 15 minutes.
