Local dairy history to be presented

WARWICK, NY — Alex Prizgintas, who speaks regularly on local history topics, will give an encore presentation of “Orange County Dairies and Their Milk Bottles” on Sunday, August 27 at 1 p.m. at the Sterling Forest Visitors Center. “My last lecture about Orange County Dairies at the Chester Historical Society was filled to capacity,” Prizgintas said. This particular show has attracted numerous relatives and descendants from dairy farms like Burgess, Vics Board, and Distleberger, each sharing their own personal stories and insights. “Additionally, with each presentation there are so many additions and changes so that you would hardly recognize my early lectures to the ones I currently give,” Prizgintas reported.

Each one of Prizginta’s lectures comes complete with a traveling mini museum. “The Dairy lecture is one of my more complicated shows since it involves bringing more than 100 bottles in 20 display cases.” For more information about the lecture, contact Prizgintas at 845/774-9723. The lecture is free and open to the public. Be sure to bring your old milk bottles to the show.
