On Thursday, August 1 the Village of Liberty Police Department Detective Division arrested Andrew Somers, 20, of Liberty, after an investigation into an allegation that he had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl.
Police began an investigation after a report that Somers had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old female acquaintance in an apartment building in the Village of Liberty in mid-July. Somers was arrested Thursday morning without incident and was charged with rape in the 2nd degree, a felony. Somers was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Somers is due back in Town of Liberty Court on 08/15/13.
