Bravo to Jeff Bank’s community culture

As a fan and client of Jeff Bank since my first borrowed dollar in 2001, it’s a delight to see first-hand and up close its continued investment in the community and its commitment to modernization—be it technical or aesthectic. Without hyperbole, there are few institutions like this left in an America littered with big-box stores, national chains and robotic corporate culture.

Jen Metzger has a proven record

Jen Metzger is running in the Democratic primary for the 42nd Senate District—currently the retiring John Bonacic’s seat. Her proven record of hard work and leadership make her the best candidate. She has served for over a decade in local government, including two terms on the Rosendale Town Council, and has accomplished much, particularly in the realm of supporting local businesses, supporting tourism through sustainable development and environmental protection, and successfully negotiating the first-ever reduction in Central Hudson’s basic service charge, not to mention the challenge of paying the increasing cost of health insurance for town employees, paying decent salaries for them and still keeping taxes affordable. Her accomplishments are too many to list here; for more details, visit jenmetzger.com/meet-jen.

While she has done a lot locally, there is a great deal that must be addressed on the state level, and that is why she is running for state senate. I support her because she is committed to work for healthcare for all, the environment, a strong public education system, job creation and property tax reform. She is smart, energetic, not beholden to special interests, and she loves to listen to what people in the district have to say. She deserves your vote.

Remember, the primary is on Thursday, September 13, and if you are not enrolled in a party, you can vote for Jen by asking for a Reform Party ballot and writing her name in.

Pramilla Malick has what it takes

Humanity sits at a critical point for all the planet’s inhabitants. We need a leader who will work at the systemic changes needed now for us to survive and our children to thrive. We need a leader to take aim at political corruption and business as usual: the party politics and “pay-to-play” games on both sides of the aisle.

That leader for New York State Senate is Pramilla Malick. She is not beholden to party bosses and big-money donors, including “big green” NGOs. Pramilla will take on corrupt corporate strong-arm tactics such as the fossil-fuel industry, with its $9 trillion treasure chest, buying candidates and hoodwinking citizens; and the DFA’s hold on dairy farmers, causing many to quit their vocations, with milk cheaper than water and farms blocked from delivering to local creameries.

Pramilla is not afraid the governor’s ties to the Percoco corruption, or pull punches against a governor who loves to paint himself “green” (“banning” high-volume fracking) while enabling the fracked-gas infrastructure machine.

Pramilla will fight tooth and nail to shutdown the CPV power plant and all planned “infrackstructure” that will bind us to pollution for 40 years.

Pramilla is for the NY Health Act, the Child Victims Act, the Climate Responsibility Act, etc. Pramilla has experience in jobs training and as a union organizer, and will work to bring safe renewable energy jobs to NY.

While Pramilla is a lifelong Democrat and a Democratic Party primary candidate, she is sympathetic to the concerns of all voters. Unaffiliated voters can now vote in the primary for the first time ever, thanks to her campaign, (despite failed efforts by her Democratic opponent to block that opportunity). Go to pramilla.com to find out how.

Then vote for Pramilla Malick for District 42 on Thursday, September 13. Her wish is for you to have clean air, clean water, and clean government.

Josh Fox, James Cromwell and Dennis Kucinich recognize the urgent need for change, and all stand with Pramilla. So do I.

Malick has pledged to shut down CPV

The September 13 Democratic primary in New York Senate District 42 couldn’t be of greater consequence to a healthy, safe, future for our residents. There’s only one primary candidate, Democrat Pramilla Malick, who’s pledged to shut down the dangerous, unneeded and corrupt CPV fracked-gas power plant, which has been sickening hundreds of local residents this winter during its testing phase and is now operating without its required Title V air permit.

Pramilla made history in 2016 when she got 2,900 write-in primary votes and 43,000 on the general election ballot in her effort to defeat career politician and CPV champion, Republican Sen. John Bonacic. Bonacic abruptly announced his retirement this year after the recent guilty plea of CPV’s Braith Kelly.

Democrats now have another historic opportunity to endorse Malick at the voting booth: an Orange County resident, mother and activist who’s worked tirelessly through Protect Orange County, to defend our district’s interests. The safety of our air, water, farmlands and public health are in the crosshairs if CPV is allowed to begin full time operations. Pramilla Malick, and only Pramilla, has promised, as our senator, to shut down CPV and to defend the public’s rights to clean resources across the state.

Pramilla deserves our thanks for her tireless advocacy. And Pramilla deserves our votes again on the Democratic line on September 13.
