Leon Volkoff of Rutherford, NJ and Glen Spey, NY died peacefully in his home on January 14, 2017.

He was the son of White Guard officer Alexander Volkoff and his wife Ksenia Olhovsky, and the grandson of Archpriest Julian Olhovsky. Born in Poland on July 14, 1930, Mr. Volkoff moved with his family to Germany during the war where, in Saulgau in 1944, Father Julian founded St. Michael’s Church. This parish of Russian immigrants who had fled from the Soviet Union relocated to Paterson, New Jersey in 1951. In 1954, Mr. Volkoff graduated from St. Tikhon’s Russian Orthodox Seminary in South Cannan, Pennsylvania. He then received a degree in mechanical engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1961, and was employed by Picatinny Arsenal as a project manager for 32 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Lydia.

Funeral services were offered at Ss. Kosmas and Damian Church in Passaic, NJ on January 16, 2017, followed by burial at Novo Diveevo Cemetery in Nanuet, NY.
