ELDRED, NY — On Sunday, May 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., mothers and others are welcome to learn about traditional Japanese flower arranging, or ikebana, from Kaya Magee of Momo Global Flowers.
It’s an ancient art, both sculptural and meditative, and participants will learn about ikebana’s rich history with a focus on the ichiyo style (natural style). Magee will provide all the materials and special spring branches and blooms needed to create moribana, the cornerstone form in ikebana arrangement.
“Momo Global Flowers is a magical 20-acre biodynamic flower farm in Jeffersonville, NY,” said Jessie Lazar, founder of Sullivan Public. Magee holds a master’s degree in ikebana and has arranged flowers across the world.
