I would like to start my column with saying “thank you” to all my readers. There is no better feeling than when you go into the post office and someone says, “Hi, Eileen; love your column.” I have been stopped many times in Pete’s Market by my readers as they give me info to use and say, “Love reading your column.” But the best is when you are driving down a back road and you see someone in the road, and they wave to you. Recently when that happened, I stopped to say, “Hi,” and it turned out it was “The Judge” (as he is known even though he is now retired), Bob Meyer. He just wanted to tell me he liked my story on Fr. Bill and looks forward to the paper each week. I am blessed. Thank you, all.

On Saturday, I took a CD trips bus trip to New York City with Pastor Phyllis Haynes to see “The Band’s Visit” (my parents taught me if you have nothing good to say, then do not say it). Nancy Campis and Pam DeMan were also on the bus. Judy and Gary Siegel of CD Trips do a great job; it’s an organized, hassle-free fun day that gives back to the community.

The Lake Huntington Fire Co. Junior Firefighter Cadet Program is looking for boys and girls ages 14 to 15. To participate, you must live in the Town of Cochecton. It will be in-house training, and it will not interfere with school. Cadets will not be put into dangerous situations. Meetings are Monday nights at 7 p.m. at the firehouse. For more information call Ed at 845/932-8514.

Save the date: The Cochecton Youth Commission is putting together an overnight trip to a water park on December 1. More information to follow. The Cochecton Youth Cmmission has an opening on its board. If you are interested, the meetings are the first Tuesday of the month in the lower level of the town hall.

When I was out and about, I stopped by Coulson’s Antiques & Collectibles at the Fosterdale four corners. Wow, that place has three or four rooms full of really nice stuff. What a great thing to do on a hot sunny day: antique shopping. While you are at it, don’t forget to stop by at Genco’s Firehouse Antiques at 7 Mueller Rd. and say “hi” to Sharon and the one and only Paul Genco.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverrporter.com in Community Living.
