I just got back from a very fun vacation at Ocean City, MD with my cousins Donnie and Rose. The ferry ride over was so nice and relaxing—but not so good on the way back after that bad storm. Water was so choppy. Thank God for Dramamine and sea bands, or I would have been feeding the fish. We really enjoyed the beach, pool and boardwalk, lots of laughs and making memories.

On Wednesday, August 16 The Woman’s Club of Cochecton had its yearly dinner/luncheon at Matson’s Bar & Grill, celebrating 61 years as a club. President Pam DeMan read a love message to the members who passed away this year. Dolores Manaseri would always have ideas about what we should do and where to go. Dolores volunteered to make phone calls, and she was by far the best customer at our penny socials and flea markets. Ethel Hulse used to remind us of all the club’s previous year’s activities in a poem at the dinner. Ethel was remembered for her column. Muriel Fulton Fredricks was a hard worker and also great at reminding us how things should be done, and providing lots of helpful constructive criticism. But when she cracked a smile it would light up the whole room. We will miss you Dolores, Ethel and Muriel. Past president Barbara Gloor was telling the ladies that she had been president from 1998 to 2000. Her mother, Gertrude Merkenshlager, was president from 1958 to 1959. A good time was had by all.
