I was out and about over the weekend and I went to Peppino’s for dinner with my friend Olga. This lady sitting across from us when she was leaving asked me if I was Eileen Hennessy who writes The Lake Huntington News, I said, "Yes I am, the one and only." She was Jan and Fred Johnson and their niece Norma Carl, Jan lived in Cochecton and moved to Livingston Manor in 1955.

If you are interested in helping out with litter pluck, it goes until May 13, please give Jerry a call at 845/932-8210. The Town Cleanup Days are May 19 and 20 at the old Town Hall Highway Department from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Please go to www.townofcochectonny.org for more information.

The Women’s Community Club of Cochecton (WCCC) would like to honor our local graduates, and provide some financial assistance toward their college expenses, while sharing WCCC’s mission as “The Heart of the Town.” To encourage service to the community, we invite all Sullivan West seniors who live in the Town of Cochecton to apply for scholarships by writing an essay about community service. Students can tell us about volunteer work they have done to help others, or about how they themselves have benefited from the assistance of others in the community. They can write about how they hope to serve the community in the future, or how planned college studies may relate to helping others. They can share their ideas and suggestions about Cochecton’s needs. There are no requirements regarding the number of words or pages. To be eligible, the student must be a Cochecton resident, living within the Town of Cochecton, with family eligible to vote at the Town Hall in Lake Huntington, regardless of postal address. All essays must be received at the club address (118 Cushetunk Dr., Narrowsburg, NY 12764) by June 1, 2018.  The number of scholarships and the amount of each award will be determined by the number of applicants. For further information call Pam DeMan at 845/252-7208, or visit the school Guidance Office.

Please keep Eleanor Berner and her family in your thoughts and prayers on the passing of her husband Charlie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cochecton Ambulance Corp., PO Box 4, Lake Huntington NY 12752, or call 845/932-8138.

Keep smiling and have a great week! You can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845-252-3568 if you have any news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
