I hope you are all staying nice and warm in this chilly winter weather. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail, nor snow stopped The Cochcton Republican Club from serving up their annual chicken barbeque dinner on Election Day. I have to say it is the best chicken barbeque around. It has a really good-tasting rub on it, not soaked in vinegar like most. You would think I could eat a half chicken in one sitting, but I cannot any more. I am trying to be good. I am a very picky eater: I did not eat the coleslaw or the cranberry sauce. I made a pot of chicken potato soup with the baked potato and the breast and got three meals for the price of one. Oh yes, I did eat the brownie—so yummy.

Ed Grund informed me that they sold over 300 half chickens, and would like to thank everyone who helped put the dinner on and all who came out to support their efforts. Earl Burch won the 50/50. A special thank you to George Blasso for hosting all the candidates at the Lake Huntington Pizzeria for the election afterparty.

The Cochecton Youth Commission (CYC) annual holiday party and breakfast with Santa will take place on Saturday, December 16 at The Lake Huntington Firehouse. It is open to Cochecton youth only. Final signups will be held on December 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Cochecton Town Hall. (This will be the last time to sign up—Santa has to get all the gifts prepared for flight!) For more information call Sue at 845/866-0853. To see pictures of any of the CYC events go to their Facebook page, New Cochecton Youth Commission.

The Lake Huntington Fire Company is selling tickets for its New Year’s Day chicken barbeque. Ask any of the firefighters and they can hook you up, or call RuthAnn at 845/932-8514 or 932-8444. It is take-out only, $10 each from 3 p.m. until sold out.

I would like to send out a big congratulations to Charlie and Beverly Coots on their 53rd wedding anniversary on November 7. Many more years of love and happiness.

In winter time I need things to write about; please send me some information.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
