I was watching Direct TV Cinema and the “Winnie the Pooh” trailer came on, featuring Winnie mumbling his famous “What to do, what to do?” He is so right. What do I do for Thanksgiving? What do I do for Christmas Eve, and what do I do for Christmas Day? My late husband would say, “If we go out to a family member’s on Thanksgiving, we won’t have all the leftovers, but if you have to cook it’s a lot of work.’ So I’m following his advice and cutting out the work. I have a big family and a lot of places to go. I will just bring my Tupperware. I am hooked on the Hallmark Movie channel. I can watch them over and over. Personally, I would love to go to a place like Evergreen—the town in which most of the movies take place—and have Santa grant me a Christmas miracle.

The Woman’s Community Club of Cochecton is having their holiday luncheon on December 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Pizzeria. If you were ever a member, or would like to be a member, come join the ladies. The Red Hatters are no longer a group, but are also invited. Even though it’s a women’s club, husbands are invited. Please give Pam DeMan a call at 845/252-7208 if you would like to have a fun time. You need to bring a $5 grab-bag gift to keep or to steal.

It’s that time of the year when the St. Francis Outreach is looking for donations to help local families in need. You can give Barbara Drollinger a call at 845/252-3224 to see how to help out. If you would like to mail her a donation, the address is PO Box 8, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. Barbara has been going out of her way helping locals for as long as I have known her, which is more than 20 years. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, she is on the phone and at the stores trying to give families a great holiday season. God bless her.

Save the date Tuesday, January 1 for the New Years Chicken BBQ at the Lake Hunting Fire Co. from 2 to 5 p.m. To get your tickets in advance call 845/932-8514. Take out only.

The Presbyterian Ladies Aid thanks everyone who donated baked goods and those of you took the time to stop by and purchase something from them, especially those who gave up their time and worked the sale. “Without everyone who attends our fundraisers we wouldn’t be able to help our church,” Grace Cole said.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
