I am writing my column on Wednesday night, heading down to Long Island for my niece’s wedding. My niece Mollie has me very involved, and she can be a little bossy. Besides making the favors and doing the unity table, I am walking my sister down the aisle and walking the mother-of-the-groom into the reception. I have to be the go-to person for the photographer. I am glad I do not drink. It should be a lot of fun, and I am really looking forward to seeing my oldest brother and his family and the rest of my family and friends. Next week you will get the lowdown on this great event.

The Cochecton Youth Commission’s (CYC) December 2018 trip to Aquatopia has been canceled due to the low number of participants. We will be looking into rescheduling this trip in early 2019. (If you are one of the four people who paid by check, your check will be returned via mail.)

Join the CYC in helping out a local food pantry. How can you help? Bring a nonperishable item to any CYC event or sign up from October through December. They will take care of the rest; join in helping local families in need. The CYC Tricky Trunk is Saturday, October 20 at 2 p.m. in the lower level of the town hall, near the pirate ship. If you are interested in doing a trunk, call 914/799-4486 to register. Sign-up is on Wednesday, October 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. This event is for Cochecton youth only. For more information, follow CYC on Facebook at New Cochecton Youth Commission.

The Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church Penny Social will take place on Saturday, October 20. The church is located on County Route 116 in Lake Huntington. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., calling is at 12:30 p.m. Hotdogs, sauerkraut, water and soda are available for purchase; there will be free coffee and cake after calling. If you would like to make a donation, call Vicky Krauss at 845/932-8923. Please come out and help support this event, and help the church raise money.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
