There is lots going on in our town: new homes are being built on the lake, and Matson’s Bar and Grill got a new outdoor deck. The Town of Cochecton clean-up days will be Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. If you have any questions call the town clerk at 845/932-8360, ext. 11.

The dates for the litter pluck are May 6 to 14. Jerry Yavarkovsky, of Keep Cochecton Clean, is trying to get people together to pick up litter along the roads. Give Jerry a call at 845/932-8210.

The Cochecton Democrats will meet Monday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the new town hall. Cochecton registered Democrats interested in seeking endorsement for open positions are encouraged to attend.

The Cochceton Youth Commission (CYC) is looking for a dedicated and energetic member of the Cochecton community to join the board. If you are interested call or text Sue Rodriguez at 845/866-0853 for further details. Feel free to join the monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at the Cochecton Town Hall.

Attention Sullivan West seniors: there are two scholarships that you might not be aware of. The first scholarship is the Henry A. Umnik Trade Scholarship; it is open to a Sullivan West senior who will be attending a two-year trade school. The second is the Narrowsburg Alumni Scholarship; it is open to a Sullivan West senior who will be attending a two-year college, a four-year college or a two-year trade school and who is related to someone who attended the former Narrowsburg Central School. Applications for these scholarships can be obtained at the high school guidance office.

The Women’s Community Club of Cochecton (WCCC) is again offering scholarships to seniors graduating from Sullivan West High School who live in the Town of Cochecton. In keeping with the club’s mission of community service, interested students need to send in a short essay about community service by May 26, or attend the WCCC meeting on Tuesday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the town hall to share their ideas. For more information visit the school’s College Room, or call WCCC President Pam DeMan at 845/252-7208.

Keep smiling and have a great week. Email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
