Joanne M. “Bunny Barnes” Brennan of Beach Lake, PA passed away on May 18, 2018 at Wayne Woodland Manor, Waymart, PA with her family by her side.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Malieszewski Schneider, she was born June 17, 1942 in Long Island City, NY. Joanne was a retired administrative assistant from New Hope Manor, Barryville, NY, who also previously worked for the Joy Bar Travel Agency, George Burkle Insurance Agency and United National Bank, Callicoon, NY. She was a member of St. Bernard’s RC Church, Catholic Daughters, the Rosary Society and a Sunday-school teacher. A family statement reads: “Joanne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was very important to her; she was a dedicated stay-at-home mom until all of her children were raised. She was a very special person who will be missed by her husband, family and friends.”

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Edward E. Brennan; her three children: Jim Barnes and his wife Jane of New Hampshire, John Barnes and his companion Joseph Bianchi of Milford, PA, Cathy Hermann and her husband Glenn of Cochecton, NY; six grandchildren: Alyssa Barnes, Brittany Desjardins and husband Shawn, Matthew Barnes, Christopher Doney and fiancée Jackie, Michelle Wilson and husband Stephen, and Jessica Mootz and husband Russ; four great grandchildren: Alexandria, Broden, Landon and Maverick; two brothers: Edward Schneider and his wife Jane of Canton, MS, and Joseph Schneider and his wife Noreen of Baldwin, NY; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Joanne is predeceased by her first husband, Wendell Barnes.

Friends are invited for a memorial visitation on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s RC Church, Beach Lake, followed by Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Private burial of Joanne’s cremains will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Janet Weis Foundation, or Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
