‘Host in, gum out’

I just got back from a nice weekend away up in Schoharie County at my friend Paula’s house. I have not seen her since our cruise to Alaska this time last year. I am Paula’s daughter’s godmother and she asked me to be her sponsor for her confirmation. I was so honored to be her sponsor; she took the name Anne after my mom. We were sitting in church with our masks on—I felt like I was back in catholic school. Oh no, I have gum in my mouth! I automatically had a flashback, looking around for a nun, waiting for one to come over and put her hand under my chin, telling me to spit it out. I opened my pocketbook. I did not have a tissue or anything to put it in. I took the body of Christ in my hand when I lifted the mask and did a switch: host in, gum out.

Cochecton Youth Commission has so much going on. Please follow them on Facebook, New Cochecton Youth Commission, for upcoming events. There is still an opening on the board.

As I was going through Facebook over the weekend, I saw a post from Brian and Michael Popolillo wishing their parents a happy anniversary. Mike and Patty, I wish you a happy and healthy anniversary. You make a great couple. I also got a message from Sue Grund letting me know her mom and dad just had their 44th wedding anniversary. Ed and Diane, keep up the good work. I wish you many more years of love and happiness.

The Republican Party is hosting its Election Day chicken barbeque on Tuesday, November 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lake Huntington Fire House; this year, it’s drive-through only. Tickets cost $12. Call Ed Grund for ticket information at 945/252-7363.

Keep smiling and have a great week. You can email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news. My new deadline is Friday. You can also check me out at www.riverreporter.com.
