Out of the clutter of 2020

I climb, giant black garbage bag in hand a quack Santa tossing away

half-baked art projects and

trips

Making room

Gone the expired passports

Hope for the Holidays: ‘Goodbye to All That (I Hope)’

Out of the clutter of 2020

I climb, giant black garbage bag in hand a quack Santa tossing away

half-baked art projects and

trips

Making room

Gone the expired passports

mirror mirror on the page

who stares back at me

from a square black and white

photo in 1978

Do widzenia

Goodbye

Polish Zloty

from research abroad

I’m tossing some worthless coins now Whose hands once grasped them?

I am childless

and freed up

Over at Mitchell Pond East

the Catskill’s dump receives

unused film stories

Sold

Framed

Shelved

It’s the end of December

The menorah needs cleaning

Eight nights of melted waxen flames

Nancy’s handmade Christmas ornament hangs off the rosemary plant brought indoors

to overwinter

Make room for 2021

Goodbye to all that

I hope.
