ELDRED, NY — After receiving four violation notices from the Town of Highland regarding the absence of NYS Board of Health permits, the siting of residential trailers on the premises, the operation of a camp without the necessary permits and garbage issues, the garbage issue at the Catskill Mountain Resort has been resolved as the trash has been cleared away. To date, the remaining three violations are still open and the dates to remedy the violations have passed. According to town supervisor Jeff Haas, as of July 30, a court date has yet to be determined on the other violations. Each violation is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 per day. The Monticello office of the Board of Health did not respond to an inquiry regarding the status of their serving a cease and desist order to the resort. According to NY Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, town officials and the Board of Health, the department is overwhelmed with violations occurring throughout the county.
