Happy birthday, Judge

It’s that time a year again when I get to wish my friend The Judge a very happy and healthy birthday. Whenever you run into Bob Meyer, it always puts a smile on your face. He is just that type of person who can tell a great story—he even uses different accents.  Once, I was collecting taxes in the old town hall and he called me up on the payphone using a very heavy Italian accent, telling me he did not get his tax bill. About 15 minutes later he comes walking in with a pizza for me and my husband; we were cracking up.

If you are taking a ride around the lake and something looks different, the corner of NY-52 and County Route 116 is missing a big white house. The Lynnwood building on the West Shore is no more; it was taken down. If you go onto the Lake Huntington, NY Facebook page by Paul Genco you can see pictures and read people’s stories.  You can also enjoy the photos Paul takes of the people out ice fishing.

Vanessa Reeves of Vanessa’s Cleaning Service put up pictures of the Army hockey game at West Point that the Cochecton Youth Commission went to.  She said it was a great time and she cannot wait to go back again. CYC added so many more events, too many to list. Visit its Facebook page and check it out. Tuesday, March 3 is signups for most events from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Sign up to go swimming, learn how to cook, take a babysitting safety course, do crafts, take a train ride with the Easter Bunny, play laser tag and practice archery, to name a few.

On Saturday, March 14, Lakeview Pizza & Bar is having its famous corn beef and cabbage dinner.  Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. Large parties should call ahead for reservations at 845/932-8131.

Saturday, March 28 is the penny social sponsored by the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Ladies Aid. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and calling starts at 12:30 p.m. They will be selling hotdogs, sauerkraut and drinks. After calling, there will be free cake and coffee.

Keep smiling and have a great week. You can email me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. You can always check me out at community living
