Gov. Wolf announces path for green phase in Wayne

Posted

WAYNE COUNTY, PA —  With all Pennsylvania counties now in the yellow or green phase of reopening in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak, Gov. Tom Wolf announced Friday that Wayne County will be one of 12 moving to green on Friday, June 12.

This reopening is dependent on the county proving that it has properly “mitigated risk” for 14 days. Thirty-four counties in PA are currently green; 33 are yellow.

The green phase means that many people can go back to work, though the county strongly encourages telework and requires that businesses with in-person operations follow updated safety requirements. All businesses are required to remain at 75 percent occupancy in the green phase.

Gatherings of more than 250 people will still be prohibited in the green phase. Bars, restaurants, personal care services—including hair salons and barbershops—gyms and indoor recreation facilities, malls and entertainment venues will all be allowed to open at 50 percent capacity.

The state government is operating under risk metrics put out by Carnegie Mellon University.

Earlier this week, Wolf’s office announced that the Department of Health has surpassed its testing goal for May, more drive-up and walk-up testing sites are opening and the state now has nearly 400 people conducting contact tracing.

“As we continue to bring down the number of new COVID-19 cases and increase our testing rate, our new plan of action is transitioning to identify, isolate and eliminate,” Gov. Wolf said in a statement. “Thank you all for continuing to do your part.”
