Morris County officer charged for rape

MT. OLIVE, NY — A Glen Spey native, working as a police officer in Morris County, NJ, was arrested and charged last week with multiple counts for sexually assaulting a minor in 2018.

The Mt. Olive police and the prosecutor’s office say Michael Rivera, 26, contacted a 16-year-old online and offered her money in exchange for sex acts in July of last year. He allegedly met with the girl and gave her the money, but when she said she did not want to continue, police say Rivera “forcibly penetrated” her and took the money back.

Rivera was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility, where he’s facing charges of luring, sexual assault, promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child.
