HONESDALE, PA — Did you know that there are 51,000 people within a 23-mile radio of Honesdale and that they spend $7 billion a year? So said Julie Fitzpatrick, executive director of the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, in her keynote address at the November 7 annual meeting of the Greater Honesdale Partnership (GHP). Primarily, she spoke about a PA Main Street program that provides eligible communities with technical assistance, support and education. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) provides access to funding opportunities and oversight of designated Main Street program communities. According to GHP President Brian Wilken, who emceed the meeting, receiving this designation and implementing a program is a top GHP 2020 priority.
