LIBERTY, NY — On Thursday, August 1 at 6:30 p.m., the Liberty Public Library will present “From Bach to Rock: An Evening of Cello Music,” presented by cellist Alex Prizgintas.
A Hudson Valley-based historian and musician, Alex has more than 10 years of classical training on the cello. However, with tools such as electric guitar-effect pedals and a BOSS RC-300 looping station, he pushes the limits of this acoustic instrument to achieve sounds of jazz, rock ’n’ roll, Latin tangos, Broadway classics and more.
His favorites include “the Baroque cello suites of J.S. Bach, Latin tangos such as Astor Piazzolla’s ‘Libertango’ and opera selections like Donizetti’s ‘Una Furtiva Lagrima’ and Verdi’s ‘La Donna Mobile,’” Prizgintas said. Also Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin and the Zombies.
There is no charge for admission.
The library is located at 189 North Main St.
For more information, call the library at 845/292-6070, email lib@rcls.org or visit libertypubliclibrary.org.
