MILFORD, PA — Indian-born singer-songwriter Kiran Ahluwalia and her five-piece band will perform on Saturday, September 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Theatre. Her program, which is part of Milford’s SeptemberFest, will be called “7 Billion” after the number of people on Planet Earth.
“I’ve taken aesthetics I love such as blues, Malian styles, and, of course, Indian forms, and mashed them together in my own way,” she explained in a press release. “I think of my music as... a genre that’s on its own, one that benefits greatly from being in the diaspora. This isn’t the way Indian music is in any other part of the world. I hesitate to even call it Indian.”
Tickets cost $20, $15 in advance, and children under 15 will be admitted free. Visit www.kindredspiritsarts.org to purchase tickets.
