Fire in Narrowsburg

According to a social media post from Tusten Town Board member Jill Padua, a fire broke out in Rasmussen's Furniture Store on the night of May 18. The electricity to the town had been out since May 15, and Padua wrote that the fire started right after the electricty to the building was restored.

In a separate post she said the fire did  not spread to other buildings.

In another social media post, Town of Tusten supervisor Carol Wingert wrote, "NYPA Fire Victims Fund will be helping people who had losses in the fire last evening who lost everything and had no insurance as well as some of the storm victims who had no insurance on their homes. Please donate. Makes checks payable to NYPA Fire Victims Fund P.O. Box 321 Narrowsburg, NY 12764."

Power was restored to Narrowsburg at approximately 9:50 p.m. last night and the fire started about eight minutes later.  The first floor was heavily damaged.  The tenants got out safely and there were no injuries.
 
Fire companies from Narrowsburg, Lava, Lake Huntington, Yulan, Jeffersonville, Welcome Lake, and Beach Lake responded.  Firefighters are expected to be tending to fire aftermath throughout the day.
