BERLIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police are investigating the details of a fatal crash in Berlin Township. The accident occurred on Friday, July 30 at around 5:30 p.m. along Route 652 by the Dollar General.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a Commonwealth Health ambulance and a Buick Sedan were involved. The driver of the Buick, 89-year-old Beverley Zeman of Beach Lake, was later pronounced dead by the Wayne County Coroners Office.
Anthony Desimone was at work at his nearby restaurant, Joe’s Ranch House when he heard the accident.
“Someone came into the restaurant saying ‘Call 911,’ I came out and saw the ambulance on its side and the car [that was in the wreck,]” he said.
Eileen Hennessy, River Reporter Lake Huntington News columnist, was having dinner at Joe’s that evening. Borrowing a camera, she took the shot of the accident and didn’t know who the victim was at the time.
“I knew Beverley from St Francis Xavier Church. She was always involved in whatever was going on. She made the best desserts and she belonged to Tusten Seniors Citizens. She was loved by all,” said Hennessy.
Investigators spent most of the day trying to do accident reconstruction. The investigation is currently ongoing.
