CHERRY RIDGE, PA—A fatal crash has claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy from Honesdale on July 30.
The crash occurred at 11:26 a.m. The teen was traveling northbound on his ATV along Darling Road, approaching the intersection of Schoolhouse Road in Cherry Ridge. He failed to stop at the posted stop sign and proceeded northbound.
He was struck by a 2018 Toyota RAV4 operated by Kathleen A. Margotta of Waymart, PA, who could not react in time.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Wayne County Deputy Coroner Robert Morcom. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Margotta was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, she sustained minor injuries from the vehicle's airbag.
