HONESDALE, PA — Wayne/Pike Farm Bureau recently donated copies of this year’s FARM-tastic book, “My Grandpa, My Tree and Me” to all public libraries and elementary schools in Wayne and Pike counties.
Written by Roxanne Troup Awith beautiful illustrations by Kendra Birney, the book tells the story of a loving grandfather who planted a pecan tree on the day his granddaughter was born. Of all the trees in Grandpa’s orchard, this tree is special.
The story follows the pair as they carefully tend the tree, feeding its roots, pruning its branches and picking its fruit, all by hand and always together.
Recommended for ages four to eight, “My Grandpa, My Tree and Me” is a useful tool to teach children about the fruit and nut trees found in a commercial orchard, the Farm Bureau said in a press release.
