DAMASCUS, PA — Farm Arts Collective will host a series of creative performing arts workshops on Thursdays at 6 p.m. at the Farm Arts Collective Agri-Cultural Center, starting on Thursday, February 6 with a vocal and group song workshop led by Farm Arts Collective artistic director Tannis Kowalchuk. Each class is unique and will be led by teachers and experts from the collective and the local community. Participants can come to one workshop or to all. All workshops are pay-what-you-can, with contributions used to support teachers’ honorariums and the venue heating costs.
At the first workshop, Kowalchuk will teach a battery of songs with extraordinary group harmonies as well as introduce exercises that employ the voice as a muscle. The exercises will stretch the group’s range and capacity, and experiment with some improvised song-making. The philosophy is that everyone can sing.
The Farm Arts Collective Agri-Cultural Center is located on Willow Wisp Organic Farm, 38 Hickory Lane.
