UNIVERSITY PARK, PA — An upcoming Penn State Extension webinar will cover best practices for fumigation to combat pests in storage spaces for grains and other commodities. Participants can earn pesticide applicator recertification credits.

The Commodity and Space Fumigation webinar will occur from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13. The program is aimed at pesticide applicators seeking commodity and space fumigation credits, including private, commercial and public applicators.

Instructors will discuss the safe handling and proper use of fumigants with a focus on controlling grain bin insect pests and burrowing vertebrate pests. The session will cover best practices for commodity and space fumigation, writing a fumigation management plan and the fumigation process.

Attendees can earn two pesticide recertification credits in category 20—commodity and space fumigation.

Registration by Thursday, March 13 at 10 a.m. is required to receive the link to access the webinar. Registrants will receive a link to the recorded webinar within 10 business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
